    Hi,

Please help as I am a new comer to burning DVD's from movie files. I am downloading movies from Ares and most of the movies are avi files i first had a problem with watching the video on the computer until I got the DIVX codec and that seems to be fine. I have Ulead DVD movie factory ( which came with my computer ) and this is pretty much useless as when I tyr and open the file to it it says .....avi is not accessible. I downloaded a trial of Apollo divx to dvd and it says i need to download a codec from there site. When I went to do this it says I already have DIVX codec and basically the 2 files will clash with each other so I didnt download it. Please, what can I do; all I want to do is burn all sorts of movie files to a dvd that will play on my dvd player and also software that will create chapters.

    Thank you so much everyone

the fileis probably in use. close any media player you have and also close the program that you used to download the file.

Same problem here on 1 pc and on another, Ulead works fine. The only work around I ever found was to use a separate encoder and, then, use Ulead to author and burn. Now, I never use it to encode but check once in a while. Have you ever been able to burn a file with Ulead; doesn't sound like it? You could also open the file in G Spot to ensure you have the proper codecs installed but if you can play them on your pc, you probably do.

Another possibility. I'm not even sure newer versions of Ulead support encoding. 2 does encode for me, 3 doesn't and I think they're up to 5 now.

    kyle4578,

In the future we don't need to know where you got the AVI ;)
