Hi everyone. I'm very new here, and browsed all the guides before I posted. I have some movies that I'm trying to put on a dvd-r. My DVD player is divx compatible, so usually this isn't a problem. I just download a movie, burn it as a data disc, and it works fine. However, yesterday and today I downloaded 3 seperate movies, and everytime I burn them when I go to watch them in a DVD player the picture is all pixelated and horrible. THey play fine in Windows Media Player etc. I have tried different discs, different burning software, etc. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. When I burn a movie from my computer that I downloaded about a week ago it comes out fine. This is so frustrating. Can anyone help? I'll try anything.
Yeah, when i play them from my burned disc in Windows media Player, and when I just play them from downloaded they work fine. It's really weird and driving me crazy. i never had this problem before.
Look at the file properties in GSpot. Compare a good one to a pixelated one. See what the difference is.
Thanks for that! I've never used GSpot before...could it just be the properties of the certain movie I'm downloading? I'll check into that program. Maybe that's the problem. I'm really new at all this...what's considered good and then a pixelated property? I kow you shown a screen shot, but I can't really understand.
Here's a screen shot of a movie I'm trying to put onto a disc from the properties in GSpot. Can anyone shed any light? This particular movie, when I'm trying to view it on a DVD player as a data disc doesn't come out at all. it's a black screen. Not sure why that came out so small...will try to re-post.
On the top right of the image, it shows the codec as DivX 4 (Open DivX). Are all the pixelated ones the same. How does this compare to a good one.
That makes sense! Thanks so much for your help. I noticed that the few "bad" recordings are all in the DivX 4 or 3 or 6. The good ones that come out fine are all in the XvID mpeg 4. Could that be the problem? Maybe my player doesn't support DivX codecs? (Sorry if this is the wrong wording...total newbie here, once again!) Strange...it's suppposed to be divX compatible.
I assume your standalone player is DivX compatible - it may be that the codec used on the files [DivX 4 (Open DivX)] is an old codec and the player is choking on it.. If you wish, you can try re-encoding the file using AviDemux. Run AviDemux. Drag the video file onto the window. Choose the settings as shown on the left of the screen Click File > Save > Save Video Give it a full name (including the extension) e.g. newfile.avi Burn the new saved file to disk and test.
