i recently purchased a stand alone dvd player that will play mpeg4, avi, divx, so now its easy to get movies and just plain play them, oh(the player only cost about $50.00/$60.00)best investment i've made of late, my problem is finding a consistent way to burn them to a dvd-/+r, i've had to do it differently depending on the format of the avi i have dled, but since i don't have to convert, shouldn't it be a simple matter of draging and burning, the first complilation i put together, was a simple drag and go disk, on nero, got 7 movies on one disk, already compressed, but there should be a certain icon on nero smart that i can click and drag and go, last nite i said to myself, why couldn't i just burn as if it were data, but out of the five i put on, two did not take, it plays on the computer, but not on player, depending on what icon i choose, i get different outcomes, well, i guess you can see that i'm a newbie, but if someone could carify for me, it would be great! thx for all replys!!!!!

not too sure on this one but it could have something to do with the type of avi file it is, as in divx or xvid so on and so forth there are loads. i dont have an avi stand alone player but my lil cheap apex dvd player will play raw mpegs, the method you are trying to use has worked fine for that unless i try to make a data disc (dvd-r) that is all mpegs then it wont play. Strangley enough if it has 2 avi's and 2 mpegs the standalone will play the mpegs.
the ones that will fit on a cd-r always play fine
