I just got a DVD burner, so I am learning what and how to do things. I have a bunch of .avi files I want to put on a DVD. Each file is approx 340Mb. The thing that confuses me is when I put one .avi file into my authoring program (Sonic DVDit) the resulting size is a lot larger than expected. As a result I can only put two .avi file at most on a DVD. That just doesn't seem right to me. What am I missing here?

    Thanks

    You're not missing anything.
AVI's are hugely compressed. mpeg-2 (the DVD format) is not so compressed, thus the files grow larger.
It's a fact of life you cannot get around.
Use a bitrate calculator to adjust bitrate, so your avi's will fit, once encoded in Sonic.
