Hi, Newbie here! I have used NeroVision4 to burn AVI footage to a Philips CD-RW disk (can't afford DV-RW at present)! When I have played this back on the DVD, the film looks grainy (can see small squares at times). When playing the original MiniDV through the TV (via camcorder) quality is 100%. Help and tips greatly appreciated. rgds, Paul.
Just realised something. When playing the captured AVI footage using NeroShowtime, the quality is perfect. However, when I import the AVI into NeroVision and play it through there, the picture is grainy and the film looks jumpy (exactly as the CD-RW disk). Any ideas? Thank you, Paul.
Sounds like pixelation which is usually caused by using poor quality discs and burning too fast, keep burn speed to 4X and use Verbatim or Sony discs that are made in Japan.
Thanks for replying Gwendolin. You may have missed my additional post which explains further. I have experimented using the bog-standard Windows Media Player and the same thing happens. When I simply play the AVI footage from the hardrive, the qulaity is excellent. As soon as I drag the footage to the "timeline" for editing (NeroVision's equivalent of Storyboard) that's when the problem starts. Grainy jumpy quality. Rgds, Paul.
No I did see both your posts, this is only MY suggestion, others may have another one. Have you tried using good quality discs?
Forget the discs scenario altogether for now. I am trying to explain that I have since figured out that the picture quality deteriorates when adding the AVI footage from the file on the hardrive to NeroVision's Storyboard line for editing. If the AVI footage is played directly from the source on the hardrive via NeroShowtime it is a quality image. Shove it in NEroVision for editing and it's very poor. Rgds, Paul.
