i am very new to avi2dvd, and have a question concerning the conversion of an avi to dvd file using avi2dvd. once i finished converting the movie to mpeg and used dvd decrypter to burn to an iso image, it burned only a few minutes of the movie. What gives? Does this mean that I have to break up the movie into more than one disc if decrypter thinks the files are too big? Is there any way to get dvd shrink to reduce the size of the files? I know my questions are random and may not be directed at one particular problem, but if anyone has a solution please let me know!
It seems you're mistaking the 'authoring' step, in the DVD creation process. Let's suppose AVI2DVD created a video and an audio file for you. Now run IFOEdit, do DVD Author___author a new DVD. In the following screen load the video, the audio, select the output directory and press OK. (Alas, the audio will be named by default, 'german' (and your DVD player will show 'german' in the menu), but the output will be fine and if you are sophisticated you can rename 'German' to 'English', again with IFOEdit [Open IFO]). IFOEdit will create the VIDEO_TS directory to burn in your DVD-R with Nero, for instance. DVDDecrypter's only Write mode is "ISO Write", which supports DVD images only (like ISO). What did you do? Ah, the final size will be slighter bigger than (M2V+audio), so if you chose the video bitrate carefully, you won't exceeed the free room on a DVD5 (use a bitrate calculator like DVTool).
