when converting avi to dvd using nero premium after about 10 - 15 mins my pc shuts down and i cant turn it back on unless i take the fuse out of my pc pwer plug then put it back in then i can turn my pc back on this has been like this for about two weeks please help
Check the cpu temperature during the conversion with a heat monitor. If it gets too hot it will shut down. http://www.majorgeeks.com/Hmonitor_d269.html
A tower can be opened up and it's easy to see (with the power off) if the cpu fan is plugged with cat hair or the vents are plugged. I blast of canned air will clean it out. Laptops are another story.I see people buying cooling units to sit them on;I've never tried to open one.
right ive downloaded hardware sensors monitor and when using nero it says my cpu temp goes up to 70 c b4 shutting down this also happens after playing games for about an hour ive checked my fans and they dont seem blocked or clogged the back panel of my pc is gettiung very hot ive checkrd the fan at the back it seems fine but its blowwing out warm to hot air is this normall my pc is fine left on and using internet 4 hours except when using avi to dvd and gam,es
this might sound stupid but what do you mean by poer down and examine fan and what is finne and heat sink and what to do with them
If this is a tower PC it involves turning off the power to the Computer. Removing the top and side panels. Locating the CPU on the mother-board and examining the fan (mounted on the CPU) and the heat-sink around the CPU for accumulated dust and debris. If you have the least hesitation about this - don't do it. If you are satisfied that it is a heat related problem, have someone acquainted with PC's do it.
