I have tried avi2dvd, but it didn't work. It kept saying interface not supported. so, i then tried vso divx to dvd. The video was fine good quality, but the sound was off by alot. I thought it might get better after i compressed and burnt it, but it didnt. I also tired Nero, but it is too big(4.5)All I want to do is burn avi/divx movies to dvd-r dics, and keep pretty good picture quality, and the sound to match. Any help would be appreciated.

I have also discovered that VSO sometimes gives me the sync. problem. When that happens, I would use Power Video Converter or X Video Converter to change the codec of the avi into XVID (for video) and mpeg layer 3 (audio), then use Nero to trancode and burn. Perfect results so far.

it might also be your original file being slightly corrupt in places, but only shows when you have converted it.try getting it from another source.

Yes, errors in the files do often lead to the sync. problem. On the other hand, if the codec can be successfully changed with a video converter, then the errors would be gone.
But VSO is about the only free program I can think of. May be you can try DVDSanta or even Nero.
