I've been trying to burn some episodes from a TV Show onto DVD but I keep running into problems with the software. First, I followed one of the guides on how to convert using TMPGEnc. I followed all the instructions exactly until I got to the end, where I was told to Make the file size 97/98% of disk capacity. I just couldn't get that to happen. I lowered both the Video and Audio bitrate as low as I could get them, and the file was still finishing up well over 5Gb. And that was just for one episode! So I tried ConvertXtoDVD and, after about 14 hours, managed to convert and burn a disk. I managed to get 4 episodes onto the disk. When I went to play it in my DVD Player, there was visual, but no audio. I tried WinAvi, but the files were still quite large and there were a couple of places where the picture got distorted. I've also tried burning with Cyberlink PowerProducer, but still, the files were massive and didn't work on my DVD Player. I realise that part of the problem is probably the DVD Player that I'm using, but what I'm looking for is some goos conversion software. Something that'll convert the files and still be a reasonable size (ConvertXtoDVD had it at approx 0.99Gb per episode) but still be a good quality picture, etc (unlike with WinAvi). Any suggestions? It doesn't necessarily have to be free. I'm willing to pay for the software if it's good. Also, I tried burning avi files straight to DVD instead of converting them first using PowerProducer (cause I'm thinking about buying a DivX/XviD compatible DVD Player) but Powerproducer converted the files to MPEG-2 before burning. And Nero won't let me make a DVD without converting first either. How would I burn the avi files straight to DVD without converting first? And is it possible to apply a menu to the DVD if you're burning avi files instead to MPEG-2? I'm hopelessly confused! I'm not great at all this tech stuff at the best of time!
