Hi there,a bit new to converting avi's to dvd.Have been using vso divx to dvd in the past with no problems. Now I'm finding the sound is out of synch in nearly all the conversions I do.The avi's work fine in a media player.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.
You might have to decompress the audio in your AVI files before you Convert them because Most Downloaded AVI Files use the VBR MP3 audio format and this Format will allmost allways Go out of Sync after encodeing.... If you download this Tool and Run your AVI files through it before you encode them to Mpeg-2/DVD Format then it should Fix the Sync problems..... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J7HNW11I Cheers
Hi Minion, downloaded that program.Ran an avi through it,then converted the new avi with vso divx to dvd.It didn't come out any better, probably worse than normal(compared to running the avi through vso divx).Any other suggestions?Much appreciated.Thanks.
I think the audio format is MPEG LAYER-3.The bit rate varies from avi to avi with average of 56kbps.Is this of any help to you?
The only Reasons why you would get a Sync problem is either the VBR MP3 audio thing which the Audio Decompressor tool would have Fixed OR there is Some Setting in the Software or the way the Software is Encodeing the File that is Causeing the Sync problem OR there are Corrupted sectors in the AVI file and this Corruption is Causeing the Sync to go out of Whack..... Maybe you should Try a Different DVD Creation Method useing Different Software?? The way I do it is More Difficult and Takes a Bit longer than useing DivXToDVD but the Quality Is Much better and I never Have Problems with the audio and Video going out of Sync Pluss I get to use the Other DVD standards which let me Get Much more video on a Single DVD..... What I do is Use a Good Quality Mpeg encoder Like "Tmpgenc" or "MainConcept Encoder" to encode my AVI file to a DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 file then I load the Mpeg-2 file into a DVD authoring program Like "Tmpgenc DVD author" or "mediaChance DVDLab pro" and add my Menu"s and Chapters and then the Software Formats it all Into a "Video_TS" Folder and Burns it to DVD For you or you can Burn it to DVD Yourself useing a seperate program like Nero in "DVD Video" Mode.... I have never had any Problems when useing this Type of Method and I have used this type of Method to Backup over 1000 DVD"s and Downloaded Movies to DVD.... I can even put 2 Full Movies or even more If I wish on a DVD useing this Method with lower quality...You can get about 6 hours on a DVD with better than VCD or VHS Quality when useing the SIF/CIF DVD Standard or about 4.5 hours with Better than SVCD or Close to DVD Quality on a DVD when useing the Half D1 Standard.... If you would like to try it this way and need some Help then PM me with your e-mail address and I will contact you with some Instructions.... Cheers
Thanks minion for all your help so far.I downloaded tmpgenc but its not letting me convert any avi. When i load in a file it comes up "can not open,or unsupported".Any ideas what to do?thanks.
First Make sure that you have the Correct codecs installed so Tmpgenc Can decode the Video/Audio..... Also Make sure that if the audio in your AVI files is either VBR MP3 audio or Dolby AC3 audio that you decompress the audio in your AVI file before encodeing.... This tool will decompress the audio in your AVI files.... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J7HNW11I Then in Tmpgenc go to "Options" to "Enviromental settings" to "VFAPI Plugins" and Raise the Priority of the "Direct show Multi-Media File Reader" to "2" and then your AVI file should Load into Tmpgenc.... Cheers
Managed to load in my avi file into tmpgenc. It was only a trial version that i had and has now expired because it wont let me convert to dvd.Have you tried avi2dvd?I got it today, will try it out and see how it goes. Thanks again for your help.
