most converter programs i have used do not support quad core, either only single or dual core. and its a real bummer because i have quad core and i would like my converting to go alot faster. do you guys know any good programs what utilize quad cores? because right now, my cpu usage is a little less than 50% when i use DVD Flick on high priority.
dvdauthor can be compiled to use up to 60 processors. I think the default is 2 streams which you can change when you compile it... or you can pass that parameter to it through it's config file.
On my Quad the CPU usage hovers between 50%-%75 in Flick, and that's on High Priority. Also, have you changed the thread count to 4 ?, it should be 4 for a Quad..
You can obviously prove it's using all 4 cores in Windows Task Manager. But it just seems that Flick doesn't max out the cores like other programs, such as DVD Rebuilder, DVD Shrink etc. For a freebie program it's plenty fast enough for me, the fact that it doesn't utilise all of each core means you have room to run other stuff too. In fact i often run Flick alongside Rebuilder and ConvertXtoDVD Another program i've used is The Film Machine, as can use the awesome (and free) HC Encoder (hence all 4 cores maxxed out if you really must), but i hardly ever use it as i'm happy enough with the other programs.
i guess ill stick with dvd flick. on the task manager it seemed unbalanced or not using 4 cores because the cpu load would be sometime like 15,10,12,89 or something like that, so i just thought i was only using 1 core. well, thanks anyways creaky.
