I've had success using Nero Vision to make my .avi files playable on DVD players...with one exception. Sometimes (this problem seems to be random) while watching the DVDs, the play will stop for about 5-8 seconds, then start playing again, then it does it again. Is this a Nero Vision problem? I chose to use Nero Vision because it makes you the simple DVD menu as well. Is there another program I should be using to make the skipping go away? Thanks.

It could be couple of reasons.

    1. The media that you are using. Use good media such as Taiyo Yudens and Verbatims.
    2. You might be burning too fast or too slow. Suggest burning at 4x or 8x. Play the dvd on your computer and see if it skips also.
    3. Maybe it is your dvd player. Try another dvd and see if it skips.

Play your movie file before burning onto a disc and see if you notice skipping there.

    Have fun~

I actually either use TDK, Imation, or Sony DVD+Rs. I always thought these were considered pretty good. I also burn at 2.4x. I guess it could be the DVD player, but I never get problems when playing backup-ed DVDs, I'll check though. Are those brands of media not good?

VSO ConvertXtoDvd: I use this and it works fine with the exception that every now and then it gets the audio out of sync. The menu creation is good and whatnot.

I will look into Nero Vision though because I am always looking for something better. (Does is possibly do .rm?)

All that said, I use Verbatim disks and they work fine on my Apex player. Sometimes it does the skipping thing with new DVD's that I get from Blockbuster or the store, but the ones I make have no problem in any Apex DVD player.

305ss2, you may check the DVD region to make sure that it is compatible with your DVD player's.
