hi. i have converted single films from avi to dvd hundreds of times using winavi or vso divx to dvd. but just wondering what is a good program to convert multiple avi's to dvd. i have 27 episodes of (dont laugh) dora the explorer in avi format which are 4.6 gig in size. i know they might not go on 1 disc. when converted do they get bigger in size? but 2 or even 3 discs would do.they dont necessary need a menu on. but if its easy enough to do i would like a menu on. but just really to get them into dvd format. any help or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
I am not familar with your episodes but depending on the quality and length, you should be able to add 3-4 1 hour episodes or 6-8 1/2 hour episodes. It's not the initial size of the files but the total runtime and bitrate used to encode them. Bitrate x Length = Quality. The more episodes you add, the worse they will look. VSO ConvertXtoDVD will give you your menu and is all you will need. The only other way I am aware of to give you a menu is an encoder, an authoring program and a burning program but that wouldn't let you put any more episodes on a disc.
after you convert some of your episodes with convertxtodvd and the size is to big for a dvd you can run the files through dvd shrink and that should solve your problem
