Hi there ive been trying to find out how i can convert a avi file i downloaded from a torrent site,well basicly i want to be able to play it as a dvd on my home dvd player with as little hassel as possible. i have nero 9 and this does not seam to help me as it does not recognize the file or it says that i need some sort of plug in ? is there any free software out ther that i can use Cheers
I would concur with 7th's advice, there are others out there, but DVD Flick is one of the most straightforward and easiest to use.

Everyone gets excited when something works for them, but there is no need to shout.(kill the caps lock) Was the original file in sync when you downloaded it? Usually that is where the problem lies.
In my opinion it is most likely your dvdplayer or the program itself not ripping up to speed (no pun intended). I would look into Xilisoft's avi to dvd. It is a far better program than dvd flick IMO and when I used to rip old school tv shows I never had any difficulty with the lip-audio coordination. If you are downloading from a torrent, the problem could be from the seed who originally ripped the file... as ferguj1 stated. I noticed on my friends Sanyo dvd player the audio from an avi slows down every once in a while, but it's nothing that is too noticeable. On her Sony dvd player however, the audio seems to be just fine in the places where it was slowed before. You might also either try hitting stop once and play again (from resume of course) and see if that corrects it or the last option and the one you probably don't want to hear but if the lag is not too bad... just don't watch their mouths move. ; ) Cheers!!
