AVI to MP4

    Ive downloaded King Kong the Movie and its 1.37 GB

    If i convert it to MP4 will it reduce the size to around 500-700mb?

    If not how do i make it smaller? as i have spiderman 2 thats 400mb but i got that as an already MP4

    Converting to mp4 by itself really has no set impact on filesize. If you use a lower combined bitrate, then it will be smaller. If you use a larger combined bitrate, it will be larger. Chances are that the video is already MPEG-4, so you don't even strickly need to re-encode that. Audio is probably AC3 which is not MPEG-4 compliant. Now re-encoding to aac could reduce the size, but not down to 500-700MB's.

    I would suggest that you convert the video to AVC using x264.

    Well size is just bitrate * time. So how come one file is smaller than another? Because it uses a lower bitrate or the runtime is shorter.

    Few things though. The PSP screen is quite small (compared to a TV or PC monitor) so I would imagine that the resolution is lower. Plus it would have stereo aac audio at say 96kb vs. say 384+k 5.1 Ac3.
