avi to mpeg-2 help!!

    hi! I'm kinda new to this so it's prolly kinda dumb but it has me stump'd. i've trie to convert an avi to an mpeg-2 using TMPGEnc but can't because "File cannot open, or unsupported." please help me!!

    what type of file are you converting?

    If you are getting a "Can Not Open or Unsupported" message in TMPGEnc with your Video file you can usually fix this By going to "Options" to "Enviromental settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raising the Priority of the "Direct show File Reader" to "2"....

    At least that worked for me.

    as OU812Ono says it worked for me too only upping to priority 1

    also use film machine or avi2dvd = excellant qauilty! apps are free

    1.8 gHz AMD processor

    if you are happy with how long the process takes with the existing pc stats dont worry time is the only issue but if you want to shave some time off maybe up the ram and get a faster processor

    any other ideas? i had the same problem and this didnt fix it.
