Hi, First time here, and first time trying to convert an avi file to mpeg. I have tried using TMPGEnc but get the message 'cannot open or unsupported file', I've tried VirtualDub and have separated the sound, but the video has one bad frame and Vitualdub stops on this frame every time. I ve also tried AVI2CD, first I had to decompress, which worked fine, then I tried the decompressed file and when I try to Encode I get the message ' does not have acceptable parameters or cannot open'.
Is this file a dead loss, or are all avi's like this.
Can anyone help? Sorry its a bit long, but I didn't want to miss anything out.
The file properties for the file are
    Video Format 352 x 240, 69499 Frames, 20.000 Frames/Sec, 71 KB/Sec, Unknown Format.
Audo format MPEG Layer-3,96 kBit/s, 48,000 Hz, Stereo.
We also have the Codec divx311 and Divx Pro 5.02 (without which the computer would even view avi files).
    Thanks in advance
