Is there any way to limit the file size of avi's imported into Vision Express ? A 300mg file balloons to over 1 gig. I realise this is so they can be viewed on a dvd player and that DVD Shrink can compress the files. However it would be nice to put several 30 min programs onto one dvd. Any way ? ( Apart from an 8 gig disc )
you want to encode an avi such that you can burn it to dvd and watch it on your stand alone dvd player? If so, try enconding it in TMPGEnc, I think you can dl a trial version. This program allows you to choose your bitrate for both video and audio both of which determine the size of your output MPEG-2 dvd file. Lower bitrate results in lower quality output files. check out this guide http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd.cfm although its an old guide, I haven't found a better encoder that lets you choose the bitrate...of course I haven't used all softwares out there and if anyone know of another solution please let me know.
That is what Shrink is for to put several files onto a disk and then compress them to fit a single layer disk. You can create your project in NVE and then compress with Shrink, that way you can have a menu. Or just do the whole thing in Shrink but no menu.
