    Hi! Rank noob here.

I have some AVI files. I have been using Windows Movie Maker to edit them, and add titles. I then use Tmpgenc to convert the WMV to MPEG to play on my Atex DVD player.

Some come across okay, but others have distorted sound and the volume control on the TV does not seem to work. IOW Volume = 0 yet sound is still loud and distorted. Also Fast Forward on the Atex does not work.

It also seems like I'm losing a little sharpness on the picture going thru WMM. I like WMM cause it's free and is noob simple.

Any advice you'd care to share, would be deeply appreciated.

    TIA - Wayne

Well a Lot of your Problems would be Solved if you didn"t use WMM because WMM will export your AVI file in WMV Format which will Greatly Degrade the Quality of the Audio and Video .....

If you have to use WMM then export your Project to "DV AVI" format which will leave you with a Very Large File but the Quality will be Much Better than saveing it as a WMV File....

The Best Option would be to use a Real Editor that can export your File as a DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 file so you don"t have to waste time and Loose Quality exporting to a different Format than your Target Format and then haveing to again encode the File to the Target format....

There are Quite a Few Fairly Good editors out there that are Very Inexpensive(Under $50) and are easy to use and can export your Project as a DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 file and have a Lot more Effects and Transitions and Support more Formats than WMM....

    Cheers
