Having some video playback issues and hope someone can help. I have avi files that won't play the video. The audio works great but no video...just a black screen. I've dl the latest codec pack from k-lite and drivers from guru to no avail. Any suggestions?

Which media player are you using (e.g. Media Player Classic, Nero Show Time, Power DVD)? Try switch to another one to see if there is video. If still not, then try use e.g. X Video Converter or Power Video Converter to change the codec of the avi (set video to Xvid and audio to mepeg layer 3).

    Good luck!

Tried Media Player, MP Classic and Divx Player. No luck. I'll give what you suggested a shot. Any other suggestions are welcome also.

So what codec does it use? Much better to check and grab that codec rather than installing a bunch of random stuff and hoping that it will work.

Run it through AviCodec first then report back.

    Dear AD friends,
Humility is a vital part of growth and quite often the simple solution REALLY is the best. Thinking that I would get the latest drivers and be on the cutting edge I DL the drivers from Guru3D instead of getting the MNF drivers from the Windows update. Alas, after 2 days of frustration (and no video) I relented and obtained the drivers from Windows update and guess what...they freaking work...go figure!
As DDP always says, teach & learn.
