I have (three times infact) ripped a DVD onto my machine and encoded it using AutoGK (no errors there), I can play the file in Video Lan with no problems, but if i try to play it in Windows Media Player it just closes media player, all my other DVD rips (165 infact) play without error. -----------------------START----------------------------------------- GSPOT info Warning: DirectShow crashed while attempting to render this file. GSpot was able to intercept the crash, and has attempted to identify the codec or filter involved; uninstalling or reinstalling this codec or filter may solve the problem. The codec was tentatively identified as: C:\Windows\system32\mpeg2dmx.ax -----------------------------------------END-------------- DVD also plays without error on PC and in standalone player. Any ideas how to fix it?
Try renaming it 'mpeg2dmx.ax.old' or moving it to another location or unregistering it to see if it helps: Click Start => Run regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\system32\mpeg2dmx.ax
