I am using v0.4.4 beta and have tried burning the resulting iso with nero and dvd decryptor like the tutorial over at
    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/avi_to_dvd_avi2dvd_page_2.cfm

The files I am using have 640 X 480 resolution, and I use 4/3 for my aspect ratio. For the encoder I chose HCEnc. Otherwise its just a couple other settings like the menu and then its off to the races.

But about a half inch around the edges of the TV is not shown. I mainly noticed because the subtitles were getting cut off. When I played the dvd on my computer in a window or maximized it the size was perfect.

Any thoughts? I didn't notice any setting that would seem to correct this.

Anyone even know what the resolution should be to work with a TV?

All TVs overscan, you will see less than on your PC. Many fan subbed Animes with burned in subs are out of the 'Safe Area' causing problems like you described. If these subs are burned in you can try these suggestions to get a readable copy.

ah ha! overscan, that makes sense and also explains why it was getting cut off on a couple other tvs as well. I'll give this a shot and see what happens.

This might be a question for another thread, but some of the files I want to view have different encoding / resolutions which avi2dvd does not like. 2 files might be Xvid, another will be mpeg-3. Is there a way to convert them all to a uniform encoding / resolution so avi can join the files and burn multiple episodes?

    Thanks again for the tip!

Been playing around with super and it seems pretty promising. Could tack on the padding and it seemed to do it.

Don't have a lot of experience with this stuff, but any suggestions on the encoding options? With taking avi files usually in xvid format that I want to burn to a dvd, what should i pick as the output codec? the audio?

Whatever I choose the files are going right into avi2dvd. It doesn't matter how long the thing crunches or how large the files end up (within reason).

No help files within super which is a bummer.
