I recently used Avi2DVD to convert a Xvid to DVD format and after I burned it and played it in my dvd player it was in black and white. When I played the image on my computer it was fine and even the DVD worked in color on my computer but when I put it in my home DVD player it is in black and white. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Hi, I've only seen this happen once and it was a while ago. My friend had a Panasonic DVD player and he bought "up in smoke tour" on DVD, it was NTSC format and when he tried to play it on his DVD player, PAL, it was Black and White!! He was ok becasue he had a switch on the back for NTSC, so he could solve it like that. Maybe you have a similair issue? Was the file you converted of a different format and did you keep the format or change it? and does your player support all formats? Hope this helps a little.
Moving to playback problems forum. In my experience this is caused by exactly what DMW mentioned. NTSC and PAL use different color formats so if you output a PAL signal to an NTSC TV you'll get a black and white picture. Most PAL TVs can display either PAL or NTSC signals so it's a little more rare when you send an NTSC signal to a PAL TV, but it can still happen.
