Hello! I have an avi-file 640x480 with a size of 700MB, it's a tennis video with a length of about 5 minutes. Now, I want to convert my .avi-file into a .mpg-file which is not larger than 6MB in size 160x120. Which codec/tool do I have to use? I'm not very familiar with video conversion. Thanks for your answers in advance. Paul.
You don"t use a Codec to encode to Mpeg format, You have to use an encoder because Mpeg encodeing is More complex than other encodeing schemes so you generally have to use a Standalone encoder Program to encode to mpeg1 or mpeg2, Something like Tmpgenc would be good and it is free for mpeg1 encodeing...But You are not going to be able to make a 5 minute Mpeg file into a 6 mb file ,It just isn"t possible because Mpeg doesn"t compress that much, at that resolution I can see that maybe you could get it down to 15mb or 20mb but never 6 MB, not useing any Mpeg compression...If you used WMV you Might be able to get a File that small but the Quality would not be very good...Good Luck your going to need it...Cheers
