Im having great difficulty flashing my digivox, I dont want to go to the bother of sending it back and paying postage etc. Is there anyway round it..can I manually add codes etc and of so how? (I mean how to add the codes not asking what they are). Im hoping some of you lads can help a young damsel in distress and give me a few pointers. Ive already hooked it up and when I go to run software it keeps saying Failure to flash which is why Im looking for other ways around it.

Hi macca, it depends on some issues ie, do you have a desktop or laptop, are you using usb/serial or serial direct. Also lot of treads have been posted to help with this.
I have solved my problem, see this tread.

Thanks Chorai, I initially had a usb to 232 connector and was also uising vista but after a few days trying gave up and located an older pc with 9 pin port. I got the software downloaded ok but when i went to download it just came back after a minute with "Failure to flash"

You say an older pc, do I take it that you are using the older pc to download, if so its the same problem I had. I had to take the port out and install in a newer desktop and then downloaded the driver for it. It worked like lighting first time.

you can manually put codes in, just press menu goto system information and press 1004
    goto nagravision and enter codes

he cannot add the codes manually without flashing the unit because the cas menu is not available on the unit when shipped

so by you telling him to go to the menu system info and press ok and enter 1004 that will not work until there is firmware loaded as its a new box

so the answer is you have to put the firmware on the box sorry

    sorry fergusrb,
only half read the thread thought he just didnt want to update the firmware to the latest.

Your probably trying to flash using the wrong com port

Right click on "My Computer"(just called computer on Vista)

Select the hardware tab(skip this on Vista),
click on device manager, under the heading ports click the + to expand.

plug your usb cable in and out to identify which it is,
when you figure out which it is, right click on it, select properties, select advanced, select a port 1, 2, 3 or 4
then when flashing choose the correct port

if ur pc has xp and com port and wired up with null modem cable, try this,u might have a choice of com 1 ,com 2 ,com 3 com 4 on the loader
if it does not work with 1,try changing it to 2,3 or 4 on loader.my pc is com 2,let it run and box reboots before removing cable.

there are 2 types of cable that people get and some have problems flashing, both are identical looking, one is wired straight which is the wrong cable, and the correct one is a null modem cable which has a cross over wire in it,are u 100% sure u have a null modem cable and have u used it for flashing any boxes?if u have used it for flashing before and it worked, the bin file u downloaded is a compressed file.did u extract it first? see the cable came with box so presume its correct then.

no when u download it,it is a compressed file,it needs to be extracted first,if u download to desktop u should see 3 bound books right click to open, click the wizards head,it will then extract as a yellow digivox folder, that is the one u put in downloader 10 to flash box.

if u have the yellow file on desktop, open downloader 10 browse for yellow bin file right click to open which loads it into downloader ready for downloading to box.

when u download the bin file is the icon look like 3 books tied together? that is a rar file which is compressed,u need to right click to open, click on the wizards head to extract to desktop which is the digivox bin file u need as it looks like a yellow folder.
