hey kratam04 i have the same problem. although i recently got a new wired router to share the net.

when my ADSL modem/router was directly plugged into my PC i had no probs.

now with the router, i am having trouble setting it up.

i have opened the port in the 4port router (new hardware causing me grief) and assigned to my PC's address 192.yadada.yadad.24

after that, i opened the port on my ADSL router/modem. again i use the same address 192.yadada.yadad.24.
when i open the port in my modem, do i use my PC's address or Router's address, cause i've tried everything, nothing works :(

i know i'm doing something silly, i just wish i knew what it was.

Found this site which explains step-by-step how to configure your router with Azureus (and other programs). It worked for me, so though I would share for others who are having problems.

Hi, I have have the feared-by-all NAT error w/ Azureus (port 35000) and have tried EVERTHING! I have a deticated firewall [IpCop v1.4.6 (newest)] and I forwarded port 35000 TCP and UDP to my router (192.168.1.1). I have a D-Link router (DI-624) and used the guide at www.portforward.com to set up port forwarding for port 35000 TCP and UDP to my computer [192.168.1.100 (static)]. And I used the guides at www.portforward.com to set up my Norton Internet Security 2005 to allow all connections for Azureus. So everything should work, right?! Cuz I have both my hardware and software firewalls AND my router forwarding or allowing port 35000 TCP and UDP. What else can I do?!

All my stuff I know about is listed below:
    RCA Cable Modem
    IpCop newest version (1.4.6)
    D-Link DI-624 router
    Norton Internet Security 2005
    Azureus 2.3.0.4

    THANX!

Hey, i have an even more strange problem...
[bold]Testing port 53000 ... Unable to test (invalid port given, or test service failed)
    [/bold]
    WTF is this??????
I have been using azureus for quite some time, figured out how to forward ports, and then see this on my screen and am baffled.
If anyone can help, much appreciation would be given.

I'm not sure why, but I get that message when a torrent is actively downloading. When I pause the downloads and then run the port test, it works fine. (I get green lights though, so I guess all is working).

My question.. when I log onto my router, I have the option to enter QoS (Quality of Service? I think i read somewhere). Don't know what this is, but will configuring it make torrents faster?

Yea I am having this same problem, and none of this has helped. I changed my port to 53095 and opened it up in my firewall, and now it seems worse. My faces are always red. I get messages like " UPnP: Mapping 'Incoming Peer Data Port (TCP/53095)' failed", and " UPnP: Mapping 'UDP tracker client port (UDP/53095' failed." But when i go to the NAT/Firewall test and test it it says ok. What the hell do i do?? I'm in college so i'm using their networking.

O.K I hate to add confusing wood to an already rather large fire so here goes:

    My Config:

    Zonealarm v5.5.062
    Azureus v2.3.0.4
OS Xp Pro(with the that damn crappy firewall turned OFF)

Open up ZA, click on Firewall(at the left). Where it says "Internet Zone Security" I have it set to High, below and to the right it says "Custom" - click on that.

A window will pop up with 2 tabs - internet zone/trusted zone - click on internet zone and browse down the "high security settings" until you see "allow incoming udp/allow outgoing udp". Now i'm not sure if Azureus/Bittorrent requires both, but just input 6881-6889 for both.

Then go to program control, select azureus, then click on options(btm right) and check "allow open process", then click "expert rules"/ "add" and give it some name. then click on "modify" in the protocols window, click "add protocol"/"add protocol". At the top where it says "protocol" select TCP&UDP, give it some description the click O.K till your out.

I also did the above for Java, simply because Azureus uses it. This should get you up n running by simply opening those programs wide up, so you can experiment with turning off incoming/outgoing tcp/udp and program specific ports to see what you don't need to leave open. The nice thing about Zonealarm of course, is program authentication and access - so you won't have to worry about anyone else accessing your computer through those open ports, because only those specific programs will be able to.

Okay, I have a NAT problem and I think I may have screwed up my Azureus since it won't seed anymore. I've tried setting up a static IP address, but my ISP told me that their DNS server changes every two weeks- there was no point in telling me. Also, since I can't seed, I also can't download anything either... Can anybody help?

Oh, and a warning that says "please open port 6885 UDP" comes up a lot. Can anybody tell me how to open that?

Sorry, but I need help with same issue, only I don't know how to find my router or if I have one. I will give this info for hopefull help. I have windows xp sp2, sbc yahoo dsl, I don't use xp's firewall, I have norton and have told it to allow azureux(permit all), I have speedstream 5100 modem, I keep trying to swithc ports but nat error all the time, have read a bunch of crap I don't understand, and believe me, I'm trying to learn, otherwise I'd done give up long ago. I can download somethings, fastest was like 30kbps, I tweaked the deal from azureus frequent questions as far as "settings for good downloads" etc. I only have yellow smiley and many seeds for torrents I downloaded still yellow, can someone please help me configure the ports correctly, I'm truly a noob as many say, but I need help.
