Anyone else in the same boat?

I have tried everything - disabled windows firewall, established a fixed ip address from my computer on my home network, forwarded a range of ports using my router's virtual server, forwarded the same ports through ZoneAlarm - but still no green faces and still portprobe says that the entire range of ports i have tried to forward are all set to stealth. I mean, how hard can it be?!!! I've done everything but with no joy.

My flatmate on the same network has green faces all the time but we used the same technique on both computers, it really doesn't seem to make sense.

Another thing - why all this trouble with Azureus when Kazaa just sorts it all out itself? Whay doesn't Azureus use the same technology?

Any help you could give would be really appreciated.

I used this thread in solving my NAT error and it was really helpful. Make sure that you read through the entire thread and don't skip steps.

One specific thing for my configuration that wasn't covered here was the configuration of my modem, which is the Siemens SpeedStream 4200 PPPoE Modem Router. In the configuration utility there is a page titled NAT/NAPT configuration. My service provider (CaribSurf) autoconfigured the modem to be 'NAPT Only Enabled', but in order to get my NAT problems solved I needed to check 'NAT Only Enabled' and put in my static IP address there as well.

After I did this (as well as many of the other steps in this thread) I had all green faces in Azureus. Hope this helps someone out.

    Hello Guys..

I have a NAT error with Azureus. Here's my background...

I am connected to the Internet via a standalone USB ADSL modem. The modem is not the one with a built in router, its just a modem.

I have uninstalled all my firewall and even disabled my XP firewall.

I am still unable to connect....

    Any suggestions anyone?

weird...i thought NATs were through the router...

i need help as well. i know how to reconfigure my router and foward my ports. but whenever i do it, after several hours, the router will screw. i still have connection to the router, but the router is not connected to internet. i cant connect to the internet or download, only log in to my router. i am using a Netgear router, does anyone know whats wrong?

    netgear dg834?

I have that one, never had a single problem with it
you can enable Upnp in the router for an easier connection(Azureus also has this setting).

Bassically upnp allows enabled programs to connect on any port, however I wouldn't recommend that, I have Upnp disabled on all devices/software and my azureus works fine..

Also make sure that your computers internal ip address set to automatic and reserve ips for specific computers(mac addresses/Hostname) so that doesn't confuse the issue.

    http://www.portforward.com

VERY useful site on how to setup your router AND programs(inc Azureus)

Ok I really got problems with my Azu, the thing is my NAT smiley does not even have a collor, not green not red just nothing!
I've read tons of ppl with the same prop and i tryed just about everything.

Im running on WinXP, WinXP Firewall, and netgear router.

This is what ive tryed so far:
    1: tryed port 48298
and port 53000 that i got from this treat

2: I've addet both as TCP and UDP in my internet konfig.

After that I still had no luck, so at this point I desided to drop the Router, so now im running dicectly from my modem, but the problem is the same...

    Please help!

Hey guys, been reading through this thread for a bit now and I have tried everything!

Im direct connected with no routers involved and I have tried turning off my firewall, all to no avail.

What I am wondering is: could my ISP have something in place that would directly affect my NAT??? The reason I am wondering this is I have had problems with my NAT before with Xbox Live.

Does anyone know of anything an ISP might do that would affect NAT?

YES... It could be your ISP. I had the same problem and it took a couple weeks to track down the problem and my ISP had me behind a Transparent NAT. Ask them if your are NAT firewalled, if so ask them if you can purchase a Public IP. That solved my problem 100%. Some ISP's won't tell you, they don't want you doing p2p. When I was on Wireless DSL they throttled back my connection and stuck me behind a NAT firewall. I am paying more for open access and use port numbers in the 50000 range. Get out of the 6000 range, it's not good to use those.

    1. Ask ISP if your behind a NAT, if so...
    2. Ask if you can get a Public IP.
    3. If you can then you want to set up Static IP's behind your Public IP for security.

    Good luck!

I have Norton Antivirus 2006 and Azureus, but I always get yellow smilies. I have gone into Norton and allowed my port TCP and UDP. I am so lost. Also, could someone fill me in on where I could find my router? I use my personal motorola surfboard modem for broadband on a Dell Dimension 5150 that has 3 GB ram.
    edit: I have enabled UPnP
