How will the xkey become useless though? It can't. It has a remote, and the firmware can be updated to combat anything MS may try to do to block it. You'll always be able to load ISOs from the remote and with upgradeable firmware, all they have to do is release new firmware when/if MS tries to block it.

And like I said, I'm not even talking about cost, but convenience. It's so much nicer dragging and dropping an ISO, verses having to burn, and hope something doesn't go wrong. Not to mention, your drive isn't flashed and you don't have to disassemble your XBox every time you need new firmware. And it's just easier all around. Pull the key off your drive and put the firmware on your xkey and you're done. Instead of having to take your XBox apart every time there's firmware and re-flash. It's far easier installing an xkey once rather than flashing a drive, getting an ihas burner, dealing with all the BS that comes with custom firmware and burning. This is coming from someone whose been dealing with the firmware stuff for 3 years. The xkey is, hands down, much easier and more convenient. Whether the cost in the end was more or not. It's so much nicer and worth it. To each his own, but man, I'd rather use an xkey all day long.

Not trying to hijack this, but I have a quick question for you. Im back in the scene again about to get a new 360 after my 2007 Hitachi 46 drive (yeah Its ancient) just RROD on me for the second time. Will any new 360 work with Xkey? Or should I look for a particular one? I already have a 2TB external drive, so thats no problem. Any help is appreciated.

    DON't Hijack. Start your own.

Anyway to give a quick update. i was able to re flash my xbox to Sammy LT 2.0.1 and also replaced the drive with a brand new M28 drive because i was getting a lot or Cannot read disc errors.

Secondly i already got the Ihas burner and i was quick to realize that the computer im trying to put this drive in only takes IDE Drives, not sata. So i bought a IDE to sata converter and im waiting for that.

Now my only question left is about Verbatim DLDVD-Rs, now im seeing threads about a specific kind of Verbatims. MKM-001 or MKM-003. what is the difference and where can i get either or. because where i get mine from ( amazon ) there is no mention of these types.

go with the MKM-003, they seem to get better results. seems like the way to tell the 2 apart is the write speed printed on the disc, MKM-001 is 2.4x and MKM-003 is 8x, just be sure they are made in Singapore.

dare i say it again? get an drive emulator (xk3y)
you boys burning, upgrading, getting your burns bang on, obviously have no idea that the xk3y isnt about " if you can afford an xk3y you need a big hdd" if you can afford a xk3y you have obviously done research ya not going to play games off a 2gig sd card, simplicity is nice no agbx, no truncs, no ihas, no verbs from singapoor( and yes coz all the people that burn the games want them from singapoor coz they make the best discs but are a 3rd world country). Just saying thats all, my best ever toy for what it does, i have a ps3 3.55 cfw kmeaw and i fefuse to buy the true blue, i dont think microsoft will ever defeat xk3y as there is to many ways to boot games and firmware updates via the storage unit

    UPDATE:

Well this sucks. im having trouble flashing the ihas burner with the bunermax firmware and im thinking it's probably because of this IDE to Sata Converter is a dud. that and im using a 10 year old dell.

is there anyway i can install this as an external Drive for my macbook pro 2011 using an esata express card? i think it would be alot better if i can just do it all from my mac.

    Any Suggestions?

On my second burn now and i ran into a problem. i tried burning a game and this time i tried burning it at 4x and the game was not recognized by my xbox, im wondering if writing speed affected the game. should i always write my disc at 2.4x?

Acutally, with that new IHAS burner thing even I say speed is an option. My backups work best at 4x, but 8x gives me trouble. So yes, it is an option. That 10-year-old Dell of yours doesn't have to happen a DROM 6316 installed as original drive?
