back up a cartoon dvd - but it is to big to fit

Hello Friends
I need a back up of one of my kids cartoon dvd,but i cant get it to fit. It is 8.5 gb and i have only dvd on 4.7 gb.
Do i have to get a media ho can take 8.5 gb?
I drive with dvd decrypter and shrink, but cant get it to work.

Is there any one who can help me!!
