ive been trying to do a backup copy of a dvd that has english subtitles but the resulting dvd does not have subtitles in it.is there any way of making a backup copy with the subtitles present.have been using clone dvd for this . any help would be very grateful
What method or software are you using for backup? How did you figured out that there are no subtitles?

Clone DVD is not a ripper, I assume you used AnyDVD together. Subtitles can be hard coded or as a separate sub picture in which case they have to be turned ON from menu or by Subtitle button on remount. Some software players will not have an option to turn them ON from their control, you have to turn then ON in menu. DVD player is same, but has a button. If they are hard coded, they will show no matter what.
yes i used anydvd with clone.im not sure what u mean are u saying i can turn subtitles on when i play dvd in dvd player?
