I want to back up a PC game I have so my son does not abuse it,but when I copy it, it will start up. Is there a program that will copy the entire game including the hidden file that starts the game??
Neither one is all that much better than the other. BW5 has features that will utilize the Plextor Premium's special wite methods for defeating SecuRom and A120 is regarded as the best for defeating SafeDisc. I prefer BW5 myself especially since I have a Plextor Premium. Both can be downloaded from our Software section here.
BW for SecureROM and Alcohol120 for SafeDisc backups. A120: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/alcohol120.cfm BW: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_applications/blindwrite_suite.cfm *Praetor waves the A120 flag*
Ok, I downloaded the trial version of Alcohol 120 to see how good it is and when I used image wizard or copy wizard I recieve read examination errors big time. The game is Battlefield 1942 and I used safedisk and safedisk 2/3. What am I doing wrong??? Also can this game be installed to my HD without using the CD everytime?
You're supposed to. BF1942 is an EA game and as such makes use of SD protection for which the key characteristic is read errors. Read the sticky threads on how to backup SafeDisc protection
Keep in mind that "red beer"(Alcohol 120%) and Blindwrite 5 automatically install "autoplay" by default. I use CloneCD& FireBurner for my Safedisc backups but Alcohol 120% and Blindwrite 5 will get the job done. Again, if you own a 2 sheep burner then either backup to a cd-r or make an image of the Safedisc cd protected game, and save to a external drive, if applicable or partition a drive and leave it at that so if you crash, the image you created will be on your partioned drive m8. This is what I do anyways and grabs Praetor's "red flag" and jumps on it for awhile....
