My backed up DVD files will not play from my External hard drive. I have backed up much of my personal DVD collection on my PC. I play the files from the Video_TS.IFO file. This works great and I am able to watch my DVD titles with lossless quality. Recently however, I purchased a MyBook II 500GB external hard drive for added space and here is what I did step by step. 1.After pluging in the external drive I formatted it into NTFS (I use Vista 64bit) 2.After formating the drive I then copied my movie folder on to it. 3. I used MPC for my player Now for some resaon when I play the Video_TS.IFO files of off the external hard drive I get this error: DVD:Incompatible Disc And Decoder Regions. I know there isn't a problem with either region coding, codecs, corupted data or any of the such because I actualy can play .AVI, .MKV, and .VOB off of the external drive. I'm stuck I would appreciate any help.
Similar problem here with Vista and external drive. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/638489
WOW!! Thanks a lot the suggestion they offered, to turn on Vista's UAC, automaticly corrected the problem. Now I'm playing DVD with no issues. The only wak thing is I have to have UAC which I hate, but, oh well.
