    Hi all,
I have been backing up my movies and i have noticed that most of them about 3/4 way through the movie start skipping and i get discoloration in the screen and i cannot finish the movie. i use tayo udin dvds, and i have a sony dual layer burner. is this a "heat" issue? it makes me think that since it is always towards the end of he movie? like i siad, i can watch about 3/4 of the movie. i ususally burn at minimum speed also. Please let me know why this does this? i bought the more expensive DVDs to avoid this and it still happends. it also happens with my sony dvds too.

    Thanks
    Derek

How are you viewing those backups when those issues occur?
    Stand alone player,or pc drive?

Make sure the dvd-rw drive that burned it,can play it using the pc.It should look almost original-in quality.

If they are genuine tys, then most likely player's fault-the drive that shows those issues.

Other things that contribute to those issues:

    Paper/sticker labels
    Compression
    Crap media
    Too fast burn speed
Dirty laser lens on the drive that shows those issues.

You've tried ty and sony. Now try those backups on some family members or friends players.See how they react to them. After viewing them on the dvd-rw drive itself, and other stand alones-that should narrow it down between player issues or backup disc issues.
