    Hello,

I've been reading Afterdawn for a few months now, but this is my first time posting.

I have a Cyberhome DVR1600 DVD recorder, version MU1. When I connected my digital cable box to the 1600 tuner, I would hear a loud background hum -- so noticeable recording was impossible. I was advised by Cyberhome to connect to the cable box via Input 1 using RCA cables. I did this, and everything worked fine.

[bold]Here's my problem:[/bold] I recently downgraded my cable service and gave up the box. When I connect my cable line directly to the tuner, the hum is back. Not as loud, but too noticable to do recording. I tried using my old VCR as a tuner, but this causes recording problems: constant switching between pause and record, disc errors, etc. which I believe have to do with copyright protection. When the unit is connected directly to the cable line, I don't have these problems.

Would a tv tuner or video processor work? Does anyone know any stand alones that have composite video (RCA) output connections? Thanks for any help you can give me.

This is a problem that is common with the cyberhome recorders i have a ILO MU1 that has the same problem i ran mine through a vcr so i could use the av hookup instead of the tuner it's not the cable it's the tuner in the recorder .
