I am new to this so forgive me if i have repaeated a question.
I want to back up a DVD which has copyright protection. It is also bigger than 4.3GB
I downloaded the DVDdecrypter and DVD shrink software
Can i combine there uses by decrypting and then shrinking the file.
The decrypter read the disc and created image files which have the extension*.MDs and I00 and I01.
How can i now shrink these to a DVD

    Hi dek,

These two programs will let you copy your disc but not the way you are using them.

Shrink version 3.1.7.6 should be used for this process, Decrypter needs to be installed on your PC but you will not need to open it. Shrink will just use Decrypter when it is ready to burn your disc.
    Read some guides:

    http://www.dvdshrink.info/fulldisk_basic.php
    http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/user_guides.htm

We just modify the procedure a bit:

When you get to the part where you select Target Device, select ISO disc image. and make sure you have the box to enable burning with DVD Decrypter checked.

Put your blank disc in your burner, select OK and Shrink will encode your movie and then burn it to your blank disc.

Shrink is going to remove the copy protection and compress, then Shrink will use Decrypter to burn the copy.

Try this and tell us how it works.

    Cheers,
    Frank

    Hi Rotary,

For Decrypter to burn, you have to set your target as ISO disc image and then check the enable Decrypter box.
If you set your target as your burner and had the burn with Nero box checked, it would burn with Nero.

I've got a question for you!
How the heck do you get an image into a post reply? I noticed you had a Nero screenshot in another thread.
I thought I could just kinda copy and paste with the [i*]****[/i*] but it didn't work and I gave up. I had a DVD infopro screenshot located in "My Pictures" I wanted to post a while back.
I know that to get my bike picture in my signature, I had to link to an internet site. Is this similar?

    hi there

if you want to use my image then you right click on it! and get the URL address! then like your SIG put the IMG tags in front and after URL!

but if you want your own images then you need webspace to UPLOAD the image to your site! then use the URL and dont forget the image TAGS like your SIG!

webspace comes from FREE email account with freeserve! (but if you dont use connection for internet in 3 months you have to reactivate!) as i do as i have a different internet connection i pay for! i just use free space! not email!

need uploader app to! i use CUTEFTP

Aslo this decrytor usage in shrink! where do i find the settings to do this?

    Hi Rotary,

Thanks for the info!! This puter stuff sure is hard :)

    Shrink and 'crypter:

You need to have version 3.1.7.6 some earlier versions had the feature too but I don't remember which one.

If you want to use Nero to Auto-burn:
Edit> Prefrences> File I/O tab> Select "Enable burning with Nero".

    Decrypter:
Do your normal editing and authoring and then when you select "Backup!", change Target Device to ISO disc image and check the box below that. Its labeled "Launch DVD Decrypter to burn the output stage".

    Thanks,
    Frank

    hi there

did you sort your pics out?

ok, i see, you mean use dvd decryt and burn with crypt!

i thiught you meant in other post that shrink will use crypt engine! so in usage you only ever see shrink do all the work like nero engine combo with shrink!

    thx

exactly!! It is very similar to the Shrink/Nero combo.... all you ever see is Shrink. I don't really use this method, Iwould rather have the folders in a files format on my hard drive. After burning the DVD I like to experiment with the files using some other programs.
If I get some time this weekend Ill try and do a picture or two for practice. I joined MPUcoder so I can get better with IFOEdit. Im really interested in the technical stuff. I've got DVD Lab as a good beginners authoring program.
I also have the 14 day trial of Sonic Reel DVD. I need 14 months with that one! I also have a trial of Adobe Premire Pro, I think Im going to buy that one. Just have to save some money up.

    Frank,
I used decrypter and shrink. It appeared to work fine. However, when I play the movies about halfway through they are scrambled to the point where you can't watch them. I am very new to this, these were the first 2 movies I burned. Any idea what is going wrong?

    Thanks,
    Jennifer
