backing up gamecube games with only a mod chip

    i read the guide to gamecube backing from icemonkey (which by the way was very well written)

    but i was wondering, can you back up games with a mod chip? and just the mod chip itself? like if i had a viper mod chip, could i just connect that to the computer and backup my games? i wouldnt need pso or the ohter things right?

    I believe the latest version of the ViperGC and USB adapter allows you to backup a game over the USB connection, thus eliminating the need of a BBA to backup your games.
