question is, if we burn that pak2 to disk by creating the iso, can you switch the disk when the first one pauses, so it will load, im just thinking logically, but i think it may be worth a try, theory untested, but may work

i dont mean replace it with pak1, i mean burn a seperate disk with only pak2, i do believe it worked in file form for champions of norrath, maybe it would be succesful here, the other guy replaced pak1, with pak2, i mean just burn pak2, to a second disk, so when the other pauses when it tries to read pak2, you insert second disk, an theres pak2 on it, i think it would be a good theory to try, it hasnt been tried yet, so who knows, im just trying to help

I am thinking a solution could come where you can burn the first layer the way it is right. Then just replace the second layer with PART2.pak file, problem is the dvd checks.I am not really sure where to locate them, the code in the IOPRP.img is very long and would probably take a couple weeks to look through it all.I did check out a program though mentioned from someone called pssplex, and to my suprise it has a PS2DVDCHECK program with it.I opened up the IOPRP.img with pssplex dvdcheck and found a matching dvd check.I might have the location for the dvd checks for both games GT4 and God of War,but am not really sure what to change the values to at the moment.I might try to get in touch with Sonix to see if this might be usefull, not sure at the moment.

Hmmmm... I did as the instructions say, but I ended up with 1.99 gb instead of 3.96 gb even though my total file size is 15 files. Can anyone help point out what I did wrong?

yeah its not even half.. it freezed an hour and a half into it.

and no a dl doesnt work. someone already tried it.

but, the guy thats working on the dvd checks is the closer than anyone else ive read, i think thats the problem, that seems to be what everyone has been leaning towards.

gt4 is the same i think. but i have no idea how to find or create the checks, that up to people smarter than me

Hey wats up if anyone wants to get inside the .pak files.Nevermind TMPGenc v2.521.58.169 or above should work.I just looked at the PART2.pak file in winhex and check this out this is what it says:

    &encoded by TMPGEnc (ver.2.521.58.169)

You should see some of the stuff in the PART2.pak file.At the very end of the file it has Suck my spinning steel,$#!%head! written like 100 times. It just keeps repeating itself, kinda crazy I thought.

L-Burna could it be that IOPRP.img file is checking during tha game for PART2.pak. For example where kratos has to climb the titans back. Meaning that PART2.pak is just a dummy file and that IOPRP.img file can be patched.

I was playing for 3 hours and i was at Athens Rooftop. So far so good. Now, tell me which part will the game freeze? Has anyone finished the game yet with the backup? Mine backed up at 4.16 GB. Played it for 3 hours and everything seems fine. Just had to guess how to fix everything and it worked. Btw, if you guys want the ISO, i could send it to you. See if it works on yours too. I know some of you were saying that you backed it up at 3.9 but mine was 4.16GB with 15 files. Am i doing something wrong? I hope not. I hope it will work until i finish the game.

Backing up God of War 101.
    For Noobs like me…
ETA 26 - 35 mins to do everything and get it on a disk.

Thanks to Jizmak (everything was for Starwars on your thread)
Thanks to Hursty (and to whoever you got the thread from)

    Programs needed:
    Dvd Decrypter: http://dvddecrypter.com/index.php?act=download
    Isobuster: http://www.isobusterdownload.org/isobuster_all_lang.zip
    Cdvdgen: http://www.btinternet.com/~ps2rippininfo/tools/cddvdgen.exe

To whoever had this post in the first place, I give you props for that. But here is the complete walkthrough (for noobs) to backup God of War.

    1) Copy The Ps2 Game Dvd To Your Hard Drive As An Iso Image.

    A)Open Dvd Decrypter.
B)In The Destination Area, Click On The Folder Icon To Choose Both A Name And A Storage Location For The Iso Image.
    C)Click On Mode > Iso > Read.
D)Click On The Dvd Icon To Start The Process.
E)Wait Until The Process Is Finished Then Close Decrypter And Go To Step 2.

    2) Extract The Files From The Iso Image.

    A) Create A New Folder (name it God of War) On Your Hard Drive To Store The
    Extracted Files.
    B) Open Iso Buster And Click On File > Open Image File.
    C) Navigate To The Iso File Created In Step 1 And Click On “Open”.
    D) Hold The Control Key On Your Keyboard And Left Click
Every File And Folder In The List.
    E) Once All The Files Are Highlighted, Right Click On One Of Them And Click On “Extract Objects”.
    F) Navigate To The New Folder That You Created On Your
    Hard Drive And Click “Ok”.
    G) Wait For The Process To Finish Then Close Isobuster.

    3) Convert The Extracted Files Into 2 Bin Files.

    A) Open Cdvdgen.
    B) Select “Create New Project” And Then Select “Dvd-Rom
Master Disc”. Drag Cdvdgen To The Left Side Of Your
    Screen.
    C) Navigate To The Folder That You Created On Your Hard
Drive Back In Step 2 And Open It On The Right Side Of Your Screen.
    D) Set The Width Of That Window So That It Is Only 1 File Wide. This Will Place The Files Into The Same Order As They Were On The Game Disk But You Should Check Them For Correct Order Just In Case.
    E) Click On Edit > Select All.
    F) Drag All The Files Into The Right Side Of Cdvdgen.
    G) Look For A SCUS File And Write Down The Full Name (i.e. SCUS_973.99)And Then Click On The “Volume” Tab In Cdvdgen.
H)Type SCUS Into The 1st Box Near "Disc Name"
    I) Type All Of The Numbers From Your File Name, Without The Period, Into The 2nd Box (i.e. 97399).
    J) Type Playstation For The Producer Name And Select The Appropriate License Area.
    K)Click On "Rec...".
L)Select Your Desired Storage Location And Name The File Gow.Iml
M)You Will Get 2 Errors, Just Click Ok For Both. (same error twice)
(If You Get One Error Message, Then You Have To Download “Wnaspi32.Dll” http://ww2.nero.com/us/search.php then type in Wnaspi32.Dll in the search bar.
and Put It In Your Windows System 32 Folder.
N)The Recording Screen Will Pop Up, Click On File > Export Image And Save It On One Of Your Hard Drives (Not In A Folder) Name It Gow.Lst
    O) When It's Finished, You Will Have 4 Files Named Gow.000, Gow.001 , Gow.002 and Gow.003
P)Close Cdvdgen And Go To Step 4.

    4) Merge The Gow.000, Gow.001 , Gow.002 and Gow.003 Files Into A Single Iso Image.

The Easiest Way To Merge The Files Is From A Command Screen.

A)Click The Windows Start Button And Click On Run.
B)Type Cmd In The Box And Hit Enter.
C)Change The Directory To Match Where Your Gow.000, Gow.001 , Gow.002 and Gow.003 Files Are Stored.
Example- If They Are On The C Drive, Type Cd C:\ And Hit Enter.
If They Are On Another Drive, Type The Drive Letter With A Colon And Hit Enter.
D)Once You Have The Correct Directory-
    Type Copy/B Gow.000 + Gow.001 + Gow.002 +Gow.003 Gow.Iso And Then Hit Enter.
E)When It's Finished You Will Have A New Iso Image Named Gow.Iso That You Can Now Burn In Step 5.

    5) Burn The New Iso Image Onto A Blank Dvd.
I personally used Nero6.0 burned it at lowest speed and now im playing my backup. Flawless, until further notice.

    6) If any questions, pm me.
    Hope this thread helps.

Just curious guys. How big is your final rebuilt images after combining all four .LST files? I got a total of 4,116,120 kb. Games seems to be working fine, however, I havent gotten to the middle of the game yet where everyone says it freezes.
