Backing up PC game

    I was trying to make a backup copy of one of my games just in case it gets scratched up. It seems like when I try to copy the game it takes forever to get to a percent. What can I do?

    Is it leaving phisical scratches on the disk?

    The game is protected by some type of copy protection. What game is it? Also in the meantime download a program called Alcohol 120%.
