Backing up PS2 games

    Do you need to have a mod chip in your ps2, in order to play your backup dvd copy?

    yes, unless you use a swap magic dvd/cd and a fliptop or slide card.

    no you dont,you need swapmagic disc,with slide card.approx £20. are you in england?

    flip tops and no soder mod chips work the best and are more user frindly.

    What type of no-solder chips are you talking about besides swap magic? The only other no-solder chips i know of only let you play cd-r backups. The DMS4 E.Z.I. is coming out soon and that will offer completely solderless installation and have the same functions as the DMS4.

    where can I get a swap magic dvd/cd or a fliptop or slide card? and how do I use them? Are they expensive, what is the best one to get?

    find out what version of ps2 you have. flip top and swap magic dvd combos are about 35 bucks US. Worth it. There other mod chips that are easier to use but harder to install. It's a matter of preference.

    I got a new ps2 for xmas, it has a flip top. What do i need to make back up copies, just swap magic disks?

    I also read on cybershop.com that it requires a slight mod to the new ps2, what kind of a mod is that, how do you do it?
