Attempting to back up my Reason 2.0 discs (Propellerhead Software), using Alcohol. I believe there is some sort of copy protection, but unsure what. Used Clony XXL and Clone CD but they don't seem to detect protection. However, Nero is unable to copy the discs. Alcohol creates and burns images of the discs fine (using General Protected CD profile), but I'm having problems reading the burned discs, in that most of the time they fail to read. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What speed are you ripping/burning at?

I don't know if it'll help but you might try scanning it with A-Ray Scanner. At $400 I don't blame you for wanting to back it up!

I'm ripping at 32x and burning at 16x. Alcohol only gives me two options for speed while burning: Maximum and 16x. I can rip at various levels. The images are ripping fine (or so it would seems). I'll give that software a try. Any ideas?

Ok so here's an update. I ran A-ray scanner and it found nothing. It just says 'scan complete'. Not very informative. So I downloaded Alcoholer and backed up the first disc using the default settings. When the burn reached 100%, the activity LED on the burner stopped blinking indicating it was done, and then it made an odd buzzing sound, which sounded like the laser head moving back to it's default start position. A few minutes later, after no activity, Alcohol finally gave me the "finished" pop up, and ejected the CD. The same thing has happened before, and I've ejected the CD manually once it reached 100%, but still the same result. When I try to read the burned disc it just sounds like the laser is having difficulty, before making the same "buzz" sound(returning to the default position) and giving up. Does this make sense?
