-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HI, I am new here and a complete dummy where burning is concerned, so any help in "idiot style hints" would be most welcome!!. , My brother who is a techno fiend usually sorts things for, me, but has inconsideratly gone on holiday, lol I have a PS2 using a magic disc ver 2.0 (my son occasionally uses cd disc instead ??) I am trying to back up Madagascara PS2 game for my son (He is autistic and a bit heavy handed , so we never give him the originals ) But I am getting the prompt "this is not a dvd disc" ???? I am assuming therefore, it is a "CD" , which will need the CD loader, how do i back it up? I have been using dvd decrypter , downloaded from here, ,... (then click on Mode /ISO/Read ,..then select a file to copy into on my harddrive, and away i go.... then copy back to a blank disc. ) So, if i need to deviate from that at all, PLEASEE can you make it as idiot proof as is possible! dvd decrypter cant read cd's. You should have a cd burning program on your computer like nero, etc. Just do a disc to disc copy like you would for music cd's. Once you get it copied to cd, use the swap magic CD to load it.

my copy of this game is on a dvd,and the TOC is 1.2GB if you have the original...what does it say on the disk? CD-ROM or DVD-ROM? but this game has a massive dummy bin in it,which might suggest something else
Hi, I do have the original, and on closer inspection, it does say CD ! (Compact disc) (Its very difficult to read and due to all the fancy jungle pictures all over the place, and it doesnt say either way on the box! (So sorry peeps!) What do you mean by "a dummy bin in it" ??? I am just trying to copy it via NERO as an audio disc,....hope this works! Thanks
my copy must be different to yours,cough cough you can use nero but if you have alcohol 120,use that i personally dont like booting CD'S,,i convert them to DVD disk you will find the cd disk spins like crazy
Hi, thansk for checking ur disc anyway, lol. I am getting in a real mess with Nero ,its not letitng me copy certain parts and then saying its protected?? I am going to download Alchol and see if I can work my way through it that way (am determine not to let it get the better of me, lol). Any chance you could give me 10 easy steps to convert it to DVD? or does Alchol do that for you? I ahve a headache! Mo x
Hi Hursty ! I got in a real mess with nero and the CD, so your thread re conversion looked really promising... BUT... (i did say i was a real thicko ..) I have downloaed scanlite, and its on my desktop., .. it next says : "Open image with isobuster". What image?, What isobuster? so sorry! I am tearing my hair out here! (I have put the CD Madagascar in my CD rom drive of my laptop.... should i put it in the DVD rewriter?) many thanks, Again!! (and any other tips on points along the way u think i might need would be most grateful!) ~ I feel particualrly thick as most others followed that thread with no problems .
isobuster is an amazing piece of software, you need to download it you need to put the game onto to your hardrive first really,OR you can just open isobuster,and load the image from there (from the drive),then drag all the files into a new folder
Hi, Still plodding on! I am struggling my way through it, (best way to learn!)... I am not sure if i ahve even copied to my hard drive correctly, but think so.... I am now at Open scanlite and source the folder .... What do u exactly mean by "source the folder"? , where? with what? how? I the folder on my desktop, with all the dragged folders in it(I hope!) But I cant find a source tab in scanlite... (nor can I see a 'click dvd' button eeither which is the next step). Many thanks (Is there an idiots line by line guide to this anywhere?)
I have now pulled all my hair out . I am really really confused, sorry. This is so much harder than i thought, i havent a clue what i anm doing. I amanged to get a little box up that said DVD scan 3.7 , and i seleted the dvd option ,..within seconds it said it had scanned and then nothing happened. I then went to open my NERO, but its a NERO STARTSMART, which allows me to select DVD or CD , and then choose options like,Copy disc,Back up files , burn images to disc. If I choose the burn image option, it wont let me select the folder from my desktop? Your instructions suggest 'open nero burning rom , select udf/iso option and click NEW.... how does this equate to my options?. I am so worried now, I have downloaded so much stuff,(winace, isobuster, dvd scanlite) , and loads of differnet icons have appaeared on my desktop, cd.tao , cd.cue to name just 2. ( I and havent got a clue what I am doing, I am in a real mess!) Please can you help me gte out of it, thanks
you have to open scanlite,like you said,then click "file",then "open",a new window will appear. you then find the folder you made with all the files/folders from the game you must scan all the files/folders(every single one)even opening the folders,it takes some time,going backwards/forwards,re-opening the folder,but they must all be scanned then you need the latest version of nero burning rom,the one that has the UDF/ISO compilation option then you go to the folder which contains all the files/folders etc,and drag them over to nero UDF/ISO COMPILATION,( basically its like rebuilding a game) http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949 see this link,and follow the nero part it just means find the folder,like opening it
Hi, Many thanks for all your help, I have given up. My nero (Nero smartsearch) looks nothing like the ones descibed on here, not only is the look totally different, the terminology is different. I tried to download the nero from here, but it tells me I already have it so there goes nothing. I have tried burning via all the options on my nero, but none work and i ended up with a pile of no-good discs. I am sure I got as far as the nero bit ok (although i did have 2 files .tao .cue on my desktop and wasnt sure what to do with those) But I am so newbie to this and mega floundering. Just have to wait for my brother to return from his hols. He'll shake his head, sigh, and no doubt sort it in 5 mins. Once again, many thanks for your patience and help, a very dejected Mo x
Yes, there are for the madacasgar game.(well, i havent done anything else,ecept the madagascar game for the last 24 hrs, lol) Although, I have deleted everything now, and having one last bash and starting from scratch. Will let you know if i manage it, Thanks again Mo
hi all.. i too have been making back-ups of cd and dvd games without probs ,but madagasca wont load beyond the opening dreamworks intro just locks after that ...i used alchohol and disc juggler both the same result ,i use magic disc swop by the way,looked on disc swops site and no sign of a patch (
