Backup Backups of 360 games guide...

Hi after reading many forums and threads regarding backing up backups of xbox 360 games i am still having issuies i have followed many ways and used many programs including nero clonedvd clonecd and roxio to make an image of my backup and then burn to disk only to find that it completes the proccess without any issuies but will not run them on my xbox360 and states the disk is unreadable please clean and switch the box off and back on again i have now used 10 disks all ending in same result (Coasters)the backups i am trying to backup work fine as do all originals i just cannot get new backups working any help would be great
Media i am using is datawrite 8x dvd+R DL 8.5GB

Look back a page or 2 i explained it all there on how to do this exactly.

Firstly you need to be using Verbatim discs DL and burn at 2x most other media like yours will produce coasters, the dye on the cd is just not good enough. You must burn them using imgbun and only at 2x recommended, although i have burned faster with no probs myself.

Secondly is your Chip or firmware flashed correctly this was the main grief i had with mine and i burnt 10 coasters.

hi i have a problem i had to re install my copy of Xbox backup creator and now im getting a message "unable to determine the current visible partion" i had this problem when i first started to backup the kids xbox 360 games but somehow i fixed it and i dont know how LOL.can anyone pls help me

I want to try and make backups of my stealth patched backups and not invest much as of now. So, I got most info from above posts regarding software for now, thanks Unimatrx!!

*Also my 360 has the iXtreme firmware so can only play stealth backups , so I need to make sure the backups of my backups will be stealth patched too, doable, yes?

1) I have a modded 360 which has a Samsung drive, so I can simply use this? Plug and play via appropriate cables to my Laptop running XP or any changes need to be made to the Samsung? When done, I simply put it back in my 360 and it will work?

2) I will buy the foll. burner. Is it ok? The Pioneer DVR-112D. Worried about 'make sure your dvd supports the book type dvd-rom', is this one ok?

In answer to your first question, the whole stealth issue is not really to be concerned about if you have firmware version 1.3 for your samsung you are stealthed on xbox live, it prevents them detecting you so dont worry too much there.

question 1 i dont understand what you mean here, are you saying you have modded the xbox and want to play this by using your laptop?

question 2 - yes get the pioneer without a doubt, its booktype is already set for you automatically, its the number 1 burner for 360 games. So a big YES.

Question 3 - That is perfectly fine i have mine in an external enclosure too.

Regarding Question 1, I meant if I could simply unplug the Samsung drive from the 360 and use it for reading the backup on my laptop so I can burn another copy? Will the laptop recognize it instantly? That's all, nothing to do with playing...

And then after I am done I put it back in my 360 and then I am set?

if all this works I will buy the foll. just wanna try things out first!! trying not to spend much right now...

No you can plug the drive to the laptop it wont work that way, its coded to work with the 360, as for the site you showed me that is the place i buy my gear from and would recommend that drive as i got it from them, also they sell the samsung external drive with kreon software for ripping 360 games

No you definately do not need the pioneer drive. It is recommended. But not needed. Any dvd dl burner will do. I have been using my lg burner for ever and have no problems yet. Also you don't and shouldn't patch the image with NME assosciator. It is actualy bad for it. Especially with all of those crc checks on your game disc. you also don't have to buy a kreon drive aswell. Type in Wxripper method. however after you rip it you must inject the stealth files (isn't very hard) with xbox backup creator. I recommend buying the kreon drive. After you do you will soon see it is the best 50 bucks you have spent.

for kreon drives
All you need to do is click drive tools tab, then unlock drive, then go to read, make sure complete backup is selected!!!. select a place for the image to go then Waahla a perfectly stealth iso image. Note this is for only kreon drive.

How to check for stealth

first of all there are two methods that can be used. The easier way and the more thurough way. First ill show you the easier way. Open up xbox backup creator and image tools (drive tools if your checking a disc. then select stealth check. select your image for the check. make sure everything is checked. If it isn't download the missng file from and then hit image tools Then the part of stealth file your missing. then open your 360 image file then the stealth file you want to inject. There all stealth for xbox live.

Xdvd mulleter

This is the more thrurough way of checking.
open up xdvd mulleter
select view iso details
select load from file tab or load from dvd tab(depending on what your checking
Select browse for iso image. or load from disc if reading from dvd.
click next. make sure all boxes are checked for xtreme.
then click crc checking
then crc details
click the box check online data base
then check. it will tell you if your set.

 

Thanks for the new info, I am checking slickdeals.net for a new pc, and will give this method a shot first cos they come with who knows what brand dvd burners, may get some coasters and if so will get the kreon, pioneer etc. as planned.

 

just wondering, in light of the new bannings does this effect this topic, backups of backups, I am upgrading firmware to 1.4 iXtreme, but all I want to know is:

1) if I had a 'good' back-up and i use procedures discussed here will my new back-up be just the original 'good' back-up...

2) if I had a 'bad' back-up can I fix that or worse case my new back-up will be the same..

basically i will get 1:1 back-ups right? if done properly, cos I am reading all kinds of things regarding not using samsungs or kreon etc. etc. basically that does not concern this topic right, cos we are jsut making a back-up of a back-up from some source...

yes theres always a possibility. and your backup-backup is just as good as your original backup. You can also do this in img burn or any other program.
