Hello, I just made backup copies of Doom 3, Half-Life 2, and Warhammer. The installer comes up just fine, but when it starts installing, it takes FOREVER. It is almost like the transfer speed of this disc is like 2x, but it is actually 48x. This is the same way with all three of these games. I have made backups of my other games such as AOEIII and they worked fine. Why would it being doing this and how can I fix it? Thanks.
What protection do those games use? Is it safe disk? I know depending on your cd-r drive some can read errors better and much faster than others. When you go and rip those games it usally says read error read error at a very very low speed. Some drives can read them much faster than others and have the ability to fast error skip. If it doesn't use safe disk then im not sure .
It was safedisk, but the weird thing is that I have made a number of backups the same way with the same copy protection, with the same drive, and they worked fine.
if its a newer safe disk version, then they probably added a lot more read errors. Other than that i'm not sure.
