I am sure this has been asked before but I honestly can't find a guide or previous post that can tell me how to backup a DVD with multiple episodes of a series on it.

For example, backing up a Farscape, Season 1 DVD to one DVD-R would require an unacceptable level of compression .. but I can't figure out how to put it on 2 separate DVDs with working menus.

Any suggestions or links to guides/posts would be greatly appreciated!

hey mr. bill lookout for sluggo lol

Split your dvd onto two disc with this guide:http://www.dvdshrink.info/splitting-v2-3.php
this guide is for an outdated version of shrink but it will work just the same.

After that you can use a dvd autoring program like TMPGEnc dvd author or dvd-lab to create you own menus.

If you would prefer to strip the disk on to 2 dvd-r whilst maintaining the "original" menus I would suggest using either DVDstripper or Vobblanker.
Both methods work well, and would fit your need to a tee. I would not advise using shrink for what you are trying to do, its simply not upto the task.

    Good luck

DVDstripper (freeware) you can get it here :-

Mr_Bill, Welcome to our little Club -

Me, I prefer to not have to work so hard. Nero's recode2 for the job you want to do. You can split your project in recode2, re-Author, and the original menus will continue to function -

If you already have Nero, fine. If not, here is a 30-day free trial -

    Cheers,

    Pete
