After a week of trying to flash my XBOX i think i finally succeded. I flashed it with iXtreme 1.51 for my Hitachi 78 and everything went smooth until i burned a game and it was unable to be read from my xbox. The xbox sounds as if its having a hard time reading disk. It stutters when trying to read it then stops and says open disc tray. I honestly don't know what can be the problem. I'm using a pioneer 216d and verbatim dvd+r Dl. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
First thing is to clean your laser with a q-tip and lense cleaner, if that fails you will have to calibrate your drive, see the link below for details http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/tutorial/XBOX_360_POT_CALIBRATION_V1.0_by_Moda.pdf Note the tutorial is for Samsung drives but it works in exactly the same way for Hitachi's. This is a proven method as it worked for me Let us know how you get on
hey thanks for the advice but my Xbox still doesn't read any of my backups. I opened the disc drive and it was a little dirty then tested it and nothing. Can anyone let me know if there are any special procedures concerning Hitachi 78 drives that i could have missed. Thanks everyone again.
From the sound of it you're using MEMOREX DVD-DLs and Hitachi drives will not read those unless you adjust the POT settings. You need a voltmeter for this one. I set mine to about 3.1 and it reads anything I throw at it. This will wear out your laser faster but hell those things are like $10.
true on the above post. But if you can't read ANY backups, it's also very possibly you did NOT successfully flash your drive.
I'm not using the memorex dvd dl. I bought a 25 pack verbatim dvd+r dl. I'm going to try and change the POT setting although it looks risky and confusing.
sorry for the double post but is there any way to check if your xbox is really modded. I mean i'm almost positive i did it correctly. I followed the jungle flasher guide step by step and it said succesful flash after dumping the f/w into my drive. But i am going to adjust the POT settings, I'm just scared if i ruin my Xbox
No adjusting the POT is really simple if you do it correctly. Just make sure you have the right tools. The OPEN TRAY problem is the first sign that you need to do this. Here is the guide.
hey i'm very sorry asking but can someone verify if these are the right tools to adjust the POT for the drive the screwdriver http://www.amazon.com/Wiha-2-0x40mm...f=sr_1_31?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1237062063&sr=1-31 the multimeter http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0237694 Thank you very much again for everyones help
saw this thread thru a search loking for something else...just curious if you ever got it to work. also to be able to tell if the flash was successfull just put a retail game in the drive and if it plays then it means the drive either was flashed with hacked fw or the orig fw is still there and a flash did not take place.
hello i managed to get my backups working that same day. All i did was just open my dvd drive and moved my laser up a little bit so it can read the backups clearer. It may sound strange since i honestly just moved the laser higher but it worked! Its been more than half a month and honestly my dvd drive sounds even better.
