i got a xbox from a friend this morning,only played this once like 4 years ago before a large festival on wich i got drunk as hell,so i get this xbox..and it has a bad hdd..i mean red light all the way clicks and stuff..its gone! so since this morning im specializing in xbox's..i mean i got slayers on 4 dvds 3 cds...i got the whole xiso,xboxhdq,evox files the whole sharede,even had to flashlight the xbox to see what ver it is(1.6)..in only 12 hours..sorry to be a noob,but im gettin to semi noob level here...and im kinda not having a ideea on what to do anymore..got a new hdd 20 gigs,supported on the list,slayers on cds/dvds,the bloody thing has a modchip..amd duo x2...and it shows me a black screen..this forum seemd to be like the most friendly on the net...couldnt say the same thing about some "other" ones..so even if i can get any help..ill throw the bloody thing thru the window...but i founded the most helpfull info i could get HERE.keep it up..
If the chip was working correctly you should be able to just put in a new hdd and power the xbox with an aid disc in the dvd drive. You should probably clean the xbox out really good and see if there's a bad connection from the chip to the board. If the chip uses a pin header make sure it's pushed down all the way. If you want to do away with the chip then disconnect it and use a eeprom reader to get your eeprom. You can fix it either way, the easiest way would be to get the chip working. Also pay attention to the chip to see if it's blinking or whatever it's doing. Usually if it's blinking it's working and all you have to do is format a new hdd.
good good..ok..just checked and the chip is blinkin...red light blink...now i have 2 problems...how do i format a hdd compatible with xbox...i guess its a diffrent format other than fat32 or ntfs...the hdd is curently non-formated...its empty..and second...lets say i format the bloody thing...what next..just plug it in and play games?)
Just stick one of your slayers dvd's in and start it up.. follow the menus.. real simple and clearly laid out. Which formatting option you take depends on the size of your new drive. I don't know the duo x2.. is it supposed to flash? I thought it should be a steady lit up situation if it has a working bios installed.
well..sticked the slayers dvd in...with the new unformated compatible hdd and..nothing! blank screen...not a single menu...nothing...the xbox was flashing red...restarted turned off..rebooted..nothing...im stuck here
If the actual XBOX is flashing red it is quite hard to fix appart from solder splashes on the board if the chip is flashing red then the chip works but if the xbox is also flashing red well deep trouble
just made AID and Slayers on dvd and cd...nothing...blank screen xbox and mod flashing red....there might be one small chance..and that is try dvd-r only tried +r...if that dosent work i have to send it to a guy 800 km away to fix it and pay 100 euros....the price i paid for the xbox plus 50 games so like...anywayz guyz thanks for the feedback...and if you got any other ideeas im open...i mean..open..like everything) even some magic Xbox Squirrel from the Magic Timberland Woods that just fixes the box no questions)) cheers
ok..so ive switched the button on the modchip,burned this NewHDEvox1.4 on a cd XBOx Iso format..pushed it in..and for the first time something appeared on the screen...xecutionerteam 1mb bla bla...and like 5 options...load bios from hdd, load bios from cd, unlock hdd,lock hdd,and something with network....ive been searchin the net and it seems this helps flashing the modchip...why would i need flashing..should i continue or stop? is this a good thing or a bad thing..please guys,i have no ideea what to do...should i make this BIOS.BIN file and burn it with a dummy or??
