Hi. First, thank you for reading. I have been burning DVDs for my friends so we could all watch on their living room TV. The program I used before was Nero 6.6.0.6 (Nerovision Express SE). Just recently, I upgraded to Nero 7 Premium (with Nerovision 4) and tried to burn a few episodes of anime (.avi files). When playing them back, I noticed that the video quality was jumpy and pixelated. At first, I thought the files might be corrupted, so I re-downloaded them via bittorrent. When playing the files in Nero Showtime, the video quality was the same as on the DVD, jumpy and pixelated. However, when I play the files on Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic, it was fine and of great quality. This doesn't happen for all the files, only a selected couple of episodes. It leads me to believe there is something wrong with my Nerovision 4 or perhaps something is on the wrong setting. I've tried googling it, but have gotten no results. Firmware and everything is updated, and I've been burning stuff to DVDs for a while and haven't had this problem until the installation of Nero 7. I hope someone knows what's up with this and can help. Thanks.
Nero 7 seems to have problems with certain types of .avi files. Nero has been contacted, but seems unable to duplicate and refuses to believe there even is a problem. Possibly some of the codecs Nero uses are causing the problems. There was a thread earlier where someone experimented with different codecs and found some that seemed to work better, so you might do a search for something in that area. Otherwise, you might try converting them first using another program like convertX, check some of the Guides.
I tried doing a search, but most of the problems that came up were video/audio synching, which I don't have a problem with. I did find a few codecs that were suggested and installed them, but it didn't make any difference. I guess I'll try converting them. Thanks.
