Hi guys. I have been looking at the forums about the viper chips for a really long time. I've finally got my hands on a viper chip myself and made the installations. However, it runs into the famous "CANNOT DETECT GC" on my computer.
    - Well this is what happened. I've checked all connections and soldered and re-soldered to make sure. They're at the right spots according to all the online manuals. They arent touching any other points (nor have i fried anything). The flexwire is completely plugged in after i pull out the plastic slide. Computer is set to ECP mode and I tried it with both values of 1 and 3. I tried all the procedures to restart, open flasher, load program, turn gc, flash etc. I also tried it without the viper connected. The white buttons are on the OFF mode. I directly connect the programmer to the computer. I've tried 3 different computers. Wow... still no luck.

Anyway, I have a question. Before the gamecube is flashed and with all the connections made for the viper chip, is the dvdr drive still suppose to spin when you turn on the gamecube? Mines doesnt spin, but if i attach the dvd-r rom to the gc and not the viper bypass, it would spin. Is that suppose to happen..?
Well, I'm about to give up and call it a faulty chip. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
oh... and my viper chip is 0450. My programmer is 0512.
    Thanks!

It Often happens that the programmer itself needs some soldering, I'm talking about the LPT-port pins on the bottom of the PCB make sure that they're all soldered thight to the PCB.

And The LPT cable must not be longer then approximately 1 Metres.
(tried a LPT switchbox to connect both my alladdin-programmer and the Viper programmer)

All your other settings seem OK .. Good Luck..

ahh, yeah I also saw the thread regarding about the programmer as well. As far as i can see... all 25 pins seems to be soldered tightly and correctly. I attach the programmer directly to my computer, so its not the length of a cable that im using. Thanks though! Glad someone made such a speedy reply ;)
