I got banned from xbox live but just recently got a new xbox. I still have the old HDD from the banned xbox. Will I get banned again if I attach this HDD to my new xbox, Also ive heard differnt things about account recovery. If i recover my xbox live account from the banned xbox to the new one will it work?

same thing happened to me and this is what i did...it got corrupted so i deleted the gamertag off the hard drive completly. then i put it on the new 360 and recovered the gamertag from xbl and everything worked fine...my only problem is when i put the hdd back on the banned console, it doesnt seem to load up any saved games and stuff, but if your never gonna use the banned xbox then it wont really matter...

you cant swap HDD's between banned and non banned like you think. If you use your HDD on a banned box it will lock anything you save to that box. Thats why you cant get your gamer achievements and your game saves off your banned box if you just continue to play after your banned. But the OP's question was about being banned. No you HDD will not ban your xbox. it is possible for your gamertag to be suspended but i have been looking through threads for hours and no one has reported that they have had their Gamertag suspended or banned because of moving the HDD to a new box. I was banned and I deleted just my profile from my HDD (Not all the info off such as game saves) and was able to recover my gamertage from xbox live.

so no you will not be banned because you used your hard drive over.

no you cant swap your HDD between banned and unbanned and play like nothing happened because the banned box will corrupt your info.

Ok.. like said.. once your console is banned the info that is written from the ban date one is corrupted. The gamertag is also.

If you've played 3 games and gotten 1000/1000 on each...it's worthless

If you take your HDD to a friends house and try to play it (whether his is banned or not) you can not sign in to your GT. You'll have to delete the GT (gt only) and recover it. AND any game save that you want to start from is also inaccessible (from the time of the ban).
Basically if you got banned on 11-1-09 at 12 noon, anything prior to that is good.. everything after is corrupt! Anytime you plug ANY HDD into your cosole, it will corrupt ANY GT and any saved game you make.. Do not let anyone plug their HDD into your console! it will just corrupt their GT, but it's a PITA to recover them.

My advice is to get a new unbanned one and remod it and NOT get online. At least you can still swap HDD's when visiting frinds. OR get 2 (if you get a deal or go refurb). Keep 1 unmodded and connected to LIVE and mod the other one... play your backups on the unbanned modded one and then plug the HDD into the legit one to post gamerscores... If you play little MP games, then justr buy the ones you really want to play. I playon a modded one that has never seen LIVE and then play MP games on a legit one that I just rent or buy the games used for.
