i always wonder why people get banned and sometimes never find out the reasons behind it so thats what i am suggesting,a thread/section showing who/when and why they got the big heave ho i always find it funny, maybe i am just a sicko...hehehe
Nah, what would be the point? The place would turn into more of a gossip chain than a tech help forum. just my 2 cents.
Ah, didn't say that. Of course people want to know other people's business, it's human nature But I just feel we'll be forever gossiping on who & why people got banned which'll take away the real reason we're all here. And it's likely to escalate into people bitching on who should be banned. ;-)
very good point lethal. and besides it would only be the popular members we would want to know why they were banned. jeanc1 and gear had threads make on them so we could do the same to others.
Lethal as always you can be relied on for a good answer. Apart from the points made earlier if we had such a forum, it would be immortalizing to some degree, quite a few people that we would rather forget. It might just backfire on us and become an "epitaph" for those who went down "fighting". So now we'd get a new breed of spammers who'd want to be on the "honour roll". Just my $0.02
@Jamzbond, Congrats on the promotion...always a pleasure to read your posts. Oops to stay on topic, the mods and admins have their reasons to ban someone. Usually if the question is asked then it will be addressed, no need to create a thread for that in my opinion as that is a shooting gallery between folks. Just my thoughts. Actually I think the concensus of those who are trying to help on this site is to assist where you can, leave the scolding to the mods and enjoy as there is something to learn everyday. *edited as I almost got on the soapbox with my tailbone in the wind.
My guess would be continual breaking of forum rules, or failure to correct those breakages when warned to do so by the mod giving the warning.
Very true for me also. But the good thing is that if someone does get banned, usually the person who bans them gives reason EG. [insert name here] got banned for making pointless threads. Just my way of thinking Jin666
This is why we don't need a banned forum...if you have a question about one of your acquaintences here at AD just start a thread asking, someone was there and knows what and how it went down, and may even provide you with a link to the grapevine...LOL
most of the time to find out why someone was banned just do a search on their name and look for their last post, usually it's pretty obvious. If it has already been edited by one of us, then just assume they said some stuff they weren't supposed to.
You should leave that stuff in there for about a week so there is an opportunity for observation...LOL Inquiring minds want to know!!!
actually I do on occasion, as long as it isn't vulgar or anything. i prefer to leave the carcass to sit a fester for all to see, you get much more of an impact that way.
It might also scare any one way who might be thinking of going down the same path...some members are pretty ruthless. LOL
